Our global consciousness is growing. Whether it’s the Syrian uprising covered 24/7 on CNN or protests in Iran arranged via Twitter, traditional as well as new media forms — along with the myriad devices we use to get connected — ensure that our need for constant access is being met.

 

Furthermore, thanks largely to Facebook, there are only 4.5 degrees of separation between any two people anywhere on the planet. With the world continuing to proverbially shrink, is it really any surprise that today’s consumers crave a personalized touch more than ever before? Everything from smartphones to Twitter points to us being as interconnected as possible. Translation: we want people (and in this case, yes, companies are people, too) to know who we are.

In terms of the whole company, you could no more separate the parts than you could separate a stem from a flower–the whole plant clearly needs both parts. The quality of relationships is a very real asset of the business. Luis is the founder and CEO of ThapGroup, a consultancy that helps companies adopt the: Think Holistic Act Personal business philosophy. Previously, he was managing director of global brand and marketing at Deloitte and has a wealth of experience in the field.

 

Luis held a session entitled “Build your Future Employer Brand” and the audience bought into the main idea: What does a brand stand for? What does it want to be known for? As he rightly pointed out, so many professionals in the field don’t know the answers to these questions and if they do, they might just be off track.
